Cultures and innovation
It seems that relationship between cultures (corporate, regional and national) and innovation brings new and interesting topic involving more than just corporate context. Cultures and innovation
Schein in his book "Organizational culture and leadership", states belief that culture begin with leaders imposing their own values and assumptions to the group. Some leaders such as Paul Foster, CEO of Western Refining goes a step further and connects culture to innovation. For the reason that many other modern corporate leaders understand this relationship, culture and innovation interplay is increasingly been embedded in managerial practice, enabling change in the most, at the same time complex and efficient way.
What makes this game even more interesting is that not only corporation management focus their objectives for implementation of innovation system on organizational culture change, but also a local governments do so, as described in the case of Seoul Metropolitan Government. Recent scholar articles suggests that national and corporate cultures should be compatible to elevate the fit and balance of companies project portfolios, and its competitiveness.
